Sound and Design

Why should you care about sound design?

You spend so much time creating a theme, floor plan, costumes, make-up, scares, characters, lighting, payroll, volunteers, budget...  The list goes on.

What does sound do for your attraction?

We all know there is a need for sound in haunted attractions.  We see the soundtracks and sound effects everywhere.  In fact I write a large amount of that music and sound.  But I want you to do something.  Imagine your haunt without sound.  Go ahead I'll wait.

Seriously, maybe go walk through it with no sound.

I know it's a common exercise, but here is what I want you to do.  Think, what would you like to hear?  Do you just settle for canned tracks because you don't have time?  Do you just throw speakers up to add sound?  Could a certain part of your haunt use a particular feel or sound?

There are a lot of questions that you may have about using sound in your haunt.  I've created this blog in order to answer your questions and give you some tips and ideas!

Check back every week for a new theme and topic for your haunt!
